Brokerage University

A university your brokerage owns, not a course library you rent.

Your name on it. Your standards inside it. Built from the knowledge your people already carry, taught to the people who need it, at the level they actually work.

What it is

Your knowledge, your standards, your structure.

Brokerage University is your brokerage’s own internal learning and readiness system, powered by OurBuddy AI. It is built from what your brokerage already knows, and it is shaped to the way your brokerage is actually organised.

What it is

Your branded university, assembled from your roles, standards, workflows, carrier guidance and expert know-how. You decide what good looks like. We standardize your way, not ours.

What it is not

Not a public school. Not a shared catalogue of somebody else’s courses. No other brokerage appears in it, and nothing you build leaves with anyone but you.

One course, end to end

Follow a single course from a conversation to a readiness number.

Six stages. Each one sits in somebody’s hands, and it is worth knowing whose, because the answer is not “the software”.

01
Subject-matter expertSay it once

Forty-five minutes with the person who actually knows. Or a screen recording of the workflow. Or the carrier bulletin and the process document that already exist. Nobody writes a manual.

02
OurBuddy AIIt becomes a course

The source material is drafted into a role-based course: lessons, checkpoints, practice and assessments, structured for how the work is actually done.

03
Knowledge ownerYou approve the standard

Your designated owner validates the course before a single learner sees it. The AI drafts. It never decides what your standard is.

04
AuthorIt goes to the right people

Assigned by function and branch. A course built for Compliance appears for the people in Compliance and for nobody else. That targeting is the product's spine, not a setting buried in an admin screen.

05
LearnerThey work through it properly

Lessons, practice, quizzes and assignments. Nobody advances to the next module without completing the one before it, and nobody finishes without passing. There is no skipping ahead.

06
ManagementReadiness becomes visible

Because completion means all of the above, completion is worth something. Readiness shows up desk by desk, branch by branch, region by region, with the gaps named.

What you would see

Three people, three different products.

The same university looks different depending on what you are responsible for. One person can hold more than one of these at the same time.

LearnerYour path, and nothing else

You see the courses built for your function and your branch. Not the whole catalogue, not other people’s training. Your progress, your practice, your results.

  • Scoped to the function or branch you belong to
  • Sequential modules, no skipping
  • Quizzes, practice and assignments to pass
AuthorTwo flavours, deliberately

Authoring comes in two shapes because brokerages do. Choose per person, per role.

Universal AuthorAll functions, all branches. Builds and assigns anywhere in the organisation. The right setting for head-office learning and development.
Scoped AuthorSpecific branches or functions only. The rest of the organisation does not exist to them, right down to learner search when they enrol somebody manually.

Authors build and assign. Authors do not see the readiness heatmap. That surface belongs to Management.

ManagementReadiness, at the level you are responsible for

Management is view and reporting. It never carries authoring, by design. What it does carry is the picture, filtered by org unit, skills and course, cascading automatically to whatever you are accountable for.

Org levelSenior executives and C-suite. Every region, every branch, every function.
RegionalTheir region, and the branches inside it.
BranchTheir branch, and the functions inside it.

How it fits you

It bends to your org chart. You do not bend to it.

Every brokerage is shaped differently, so scope is the part we did not simplify. Four levels, and functions that behave the way a real brokerage behaves.

OrganisationYour brokerage
RegionProvinces. Ontario, Atlantic, the West.
BranchOffices. Head office is simply a branch with a flag on it.
FunctionWhat a person actually does. Commercial lines, personal lines, client service, compliance.

Global functions

Defined once at the top. When you open a new branch, every global function automatically appears inside it as its own branch-level instance, so a new office is never starting from nothing.

Custom functions

Unique to one branch. High-net-worth underwriting that only exists in Kitchener stays in Kitchener, and never clutters anybody else’s structure.

People are always attached to the branch-level instance of a function, never to the abstract parent. That is what makes a learner’s course list precisely theirs, and what makes readiness mean something when you filter it.

Where you fit

What you would hold, and what you would get.

Roles combine. Most people who bring OurBuddy into a brokerage end up holding more than one.

Lane 1

Strategic signers

President · CEO · Principal Broker · Managing Partner · COO · EVP Operations

You would hold Org-level Management

The whole organisation in one view, with the gaps named before they become somebody's complaint. You are not authoring anything. You are seeing whether the standard you signed off is actually happening.

Lane 2

Operational champions

COO · VP Operations · VP Personal & Commercial Lines · Director Operations · Broker Development Manager

You would hold Management, often with Scoped Author

The repetition comes off your desk. You can build for the branches and functions you are responsible for, and see the readiness picture for exactly that patch, without needing anybody's permission to look.

Lane 3

Learning, training and enablement

Director L&D · VP L&D · National L&D · Talent Development

You would hold Universal Author, plus Management

You build company-wide, from material that already exists, without waiting weeks for an expert's calendar to open. The bottleneck that keeps every course from shipping on time is the one thing this is designed to clear.

Lane 4

People and culture

VP People & Culture · Director People & Workplace · Talent and Employee Experience

You would hold Management, plus Universal Author

Onboarding stops depending on who happens to be free that week. You can build the company-wide induction yourself, and watch ramp and consistency in the same view the executives are looking at.

Lane 5

Acquisition and integration leaders

EVP Corporate Development · M&A Integration · Growth and Roll-up leaders

You would hold Management, scoped to the entities you are integrating

An acquired brokerage becomes a region or a branch, keeps its own custom functions, and receives your standards as courses rather than as a memo. You can see how far integration has actually got, instead of asking.

Before a pilot

There is a sequence, and it is short.

We do not start with a pilot, because a pilot without a number is a guess. Three steps, in this order.

1
Find your numberSix questions produce a directional annual figure for what your current training model is costing you. No signup to see it.
2
Training Drag ReviewA private 20-minute working session. We work out how much of that number you can directionally recover, per hire, per month and per year, and what it would take.
3
Paid proof pilotScope and necessity are decided in the Review, not before it. Four weeks, one course, one cohort, fourteen days of real broker use, success criteria agreed in writing first.

Not done the Diagnostic yet?Start there. It takes about a minute and it is the number the Review is built around.

Already have your number and your six-page report?Finding the number is the easy half. The Review is where we work out what is recoverable.

Book a Training Drag Review

A private 20-minute working session. No slides and no sales presentation.

What your best people know is worth recording once, not repeating forever.

Say it once, or hand over the document that already exists, and it becomes something the brokerage owns. It starts with seeing the number.
